Calvary Road Baptist Church started as a bible study in May of 1987 in the Walnut Cove Pavilion on Wednesday nights.  The study, led by Brother Doug Adell, was sponsored by Northridge Baptist Church in Conroe, TX.  It was from this small group that the Calvary Road Baptist Mission came to be with Brother Adell as the Pastor.
The First Sunday morning meeting was held on August 2, 1987 with twenty-two people present.  The service was held in a small trailer at the time.
It was in 1989 that many changes started to take place.  Brother Adell felt the need to leave, the mother church switched to the First Baptist Church of Willis and after a short interim, Reverend Joe Moore became the pastor.
There was a note burning service to celebrate the payment, in full, of the church property on December 31, 1989.  A New Building Fund was then set up and the Lord blessed the church with offerings from members, friends and family.
As 1991 was warming up, so were the hopes for a new church building.  A loan was approved and most of 1991 was spent building the present worship center.  It was dedicated on December 1, 1991  in a dedication service.
On June 27, 1993 Calvary Road Baptist Mission became Calvary Road Baptist Church.
The following year, Brother Moore announced his retirement.  The call was extended to Brother John Walker in January 1995.
His first sermon as pastor was on February 12, 1995.
Additions were made in 1997 with a kitchen and a Sunday school wing.  We had another note burning celebration in 2000.
In 2005 we licensed Brother Jeffrey Loftin as Youth Minister.  In 2008, Brother Jeff  left to seminary and in that same year,  Brother Joseph Walter was licensed as the Youth Minister.
In 2009, Brother Walker retired after fifteen years of service to the church and in April 2010 Brother Dale Inman became the pastor.  His first sermon was heard on Sunday,  April 11, 2010.
Youth Pastor Joseph Walter was called to lead a youth group at another church in June 2012.  In July, Pastor Jim Burns signed on as Minister of Education.
A ground breaking ceremony was held in December 2012 with
Bro. Dale Inman and Brother John Walker both in attendance.
On January 16, 2013 the contruction of the new children and youth building began. The children's side of the building was completed in March, 2013.
On September 13, 2013 a proposal to complete the youth side of the building was turned in and accepted by the church body, beginning the completion of the new building on Novmeber 22, 2013.   The Children and Youth Building was completely built and paid for by April 2014.  We dedicated it to the Lord in a service on Sunday, June 29, 2014.
Pastor Jim Burns stepped down as minister of education in February 2016.
After being called to serve the Lord at another location, Brother Dale Inman preached his last sermon on Sunday, May 27th, 2018.
The Lord brought Brother Michael Ainsworth to the church before the Pastor Search Committee ever met.  He and his wife,  Margie, were in the process of looking for a new church home.  And in God's timing,  Brother Mike was also looking for his first pastorate position.
The church body voted Pastor Mike Ainsworth in as pastor on September 16, 2018.  And God keeps moving at Calvary Road Baptist Church!
